Welcome to the Diablo Range District!

There are 21 districts in the California State Park System, which is headquartered in Sacramento. The Diablo Range District contains 21 park units and reaches 12 of the state's counties. Our district also facilitates off-road recreation in 2 of the state's 9 State Vehicular Recreation Areas.

Albany State Marine Reserve is a section of water located at the north end of Mclaughlin Eastshore State Park. A state marine reserve is the highest level marine protected area which means that all natural features and wildlife are legally protected here.

    • $1.00 discount for vehicle day use for persons 62 years of age or older

Dogs are allowed at the park.

  • Speed limit is 5 mph
  • Small boats, canoe, kayak, catamarans, sailboarders are allowed

Fishing
Persons age 16 and older must carry a valid fishing license.

Bicycling
The California Aqueduct Bikeway is a popular cycling Trail.

California State Parks is in the process of classifying and preparing a General Plan for the Delta Meadows property. This will determine the park unit’s uses and create a plan for its management, development, and operation. Learn more about this process on the Delta Meadows General Plan Website.

Franks Tract State Recreation Area is only accessible by water and is located southeast of Brannan Island between False River and Bethel Island. Very few land forms remain exposed, with the exception of remnant levees.

Due to the limited access, exposure to strong winds and shallow fluctuating water levels, recreational use is by anglers and waterfowl hunters.

Main Coe Ranch and Hunting Hollow park entrances are always open, 365 days a year including holidays. The Dowdy Ranch entrance is open daily 8 AM to 6 PM, but can be closed due to rain.

  • Manzanita Point Group Camp $75 per night, which includes 2 vehicles. Additional group vehicles is $8 per night. Total 5 vehicles maximum.
  • Backpacking is $5 per person per night. Hike/Bike (backpack) Vehicle Fee $8 per night at Coe Ranch and Dowdy Entrances. Hunting Hollow Entrance is $6 per night.
  • Horse Camp $25 per night, which includes 1 vehicle and 2 horses. Additional vehicle fee is $8 per night. Additional horse fee is $5 per night.

Trailer: Up to 20 Feet
Camper/Motorhome: Up to 22 Feet

Dogs allowed ONLY at the Coe Ranch Entrance in the Coe Ranch Campground, paved areas, and the ½-mile Live Oak Trail that connects the visitor center to the Entrance Parking Lot. If camping in the Coe Ranch Campground, dogs must be with you in your tent or vehicle at night. Dogs NOT allowed anywhere else inside the park, which includes the Manzanita Point Hike-In Group Camps, Blue Oak Equestrian/Hike-In Group Camp, Poverty Flat Hike-In Group Camp, Hunting Hollow Entrance, and Dowdy Entrance.

This park unit was obtained by Califronia State Parks thorugh the efforts of concerned citizens as well as the Trust for Public Land and other entities, although it is currently not open to the public.

In a collaborative partnership, California State Parks and the City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department participated in a joint planning process to plan the future development of the park.
