California State Historical Resources Commission to Consider 28 Properties for Action

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—The California State Historical Resources Commission (Commission) will consider 15 nominations for federal historic designation and 13 nominations for state historic designation on tomorrow, August 14. Due to current pandemic, this meeting will not be held at a publicly accessible location, but the public may view the meeting starting at 9 a.m. via CAL-SPAN or by registering for attendance via Zoom. 

California State Parks Closes Camping at Turlock Lake State Recreation Area to Reduce Spread of COVID-19

LA GRANGE, Calif. — California State Parks today announced the temporary closure of Turlock Lake State Recreation Area's campground area to avoid visitation surges and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. The closure is effective Friday, August 7. Current reservation holders are being contacted via email by ReserveCalifornia and refunds will be automatic. Walk-up reservations will not be accepted. However, the boat ramp and day-use parking remain open at this time.

California State Parks Partially Restricts Public Parking at Auburn State Recreation Area to Avoid Dangerous Visitation Surges

AUBURN, Calif. -- California State Parks today announced a temporary restriction for public parking on Yankee Jims Road, located within Auburn State Recreation Area (SRA). Effective today, the road will be closed to parking until further notice to avoid visitation surges and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in this popular outdoor destination. During this temporary restriction, the road will remain open for through traffic. Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced (view order).

California State Parks Accepting Applications for Round 4 of the Competitive Statewide Park Program

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California State Parks is now accepting applications for Round 4 of the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant Program funded by Proposition 68. A total of $395.3 million in competitive grant funding is available to cities, counties, nonprofit organizations, local districts and joint powers authorities to create new parks and recreational opportunities in underserved communities across California.

California State Parks Announces Proposition 68 Per Capita Allocations

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) today announced nearly $200 million available for more than 700 agencies under the Proposition 68 Per Capita Grant Program. This non-competitive grant program provides funding to local government agencies to support the rehabilitation, creation and improvement of local parks and to address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to outdoor recreation facilities.
