Campsite Equipment and Set Up

Mountain lions have been spotted in the Point Mugu State Park area.

If you're heading outdoors, please take extra precautions to stay safe. Recreate Cautiously.

To reduce the chances of an encounter with a mountain lion:
•Avoid hiking alone, especially between dusk and dawn when lions normally hunt. Make noise while you hike to reduce the chances of surprising a lion.
• Always keep children in sight and within arm’s reach while hiking in areas that can conceal a lion.
• Do not attempt to approach a lion. Most lions will avoid confrontation. Give them a way to escape.
Your safety matters—enjoy nature responsibly.
