START THE NEW YEAR WITH A SNOWSHOE TOUR
Meet at the Visitor Center for an 11:00 am departure, Monday, January 1, 2024.
Led by a Park Docent, this 1.5-2 mile snowshoe tour will begin at the Donner Memorial SP Visitor Center. There will be several short interpretive stops along the way. Participants bring snowshoes (walking poles are optional and may help with balance), water, snacks, warm winter clothes, gloves, and face coverings.
Cancellation Information: Tour will be canceled if weather conditions are unsafe (e.g., heavy storms, strong wind gusts, road closures). Parking fees: $4 Senior (62 or older) or $5 Day-Use per vehicle. Annual Pass or 4th Grade Adventure Pass also accepted.
Snowshoe Tours will resume on January 6, 2024
Every Saturday (weather permitting) January 6 - March 30
Snowshoe Tours depart from the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center and are led by Park staff and volunteers.
Tours are 90-minutes (1.5 miles) with short educational stops at exceptional viewpoints including the Pioneer Monument, Murphy Cabin site, and natural features.
*Participants are responsible for bringing their own snowshoes, warm layers, and sun protection.
If snow conditions are not appropriate for snowshoeing, tours may become walking tours. Traction devices on boots may be helpful. Registration Form to reserve your spot. Tours are offered on Saturdays at 1pm. January 6 - March 30. Tours may be cancelled if there are no preregistered participants or extreem weather.
