JG Tryout Information
Tryouts are only required for new Junior Guards and those that missed the previous year of Junior Guards
1. 150 yard open water swim
2. Tread water for 3 minutes
3. 10 yard underwater swim
ALL TRYOUTS ARE ON-HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Tryouts are not required for returning JGs who have not had a lapse in participation. Tryouts are required for all new participants.
JGs ages 13-16, who have previous JG experience, are encouraged to apply to be assistants.
If you are unable to attend a tryout date, please email us and plan to arrive 30 minutes early on the first day of the program.
You may choose to attend whichever try out date works best for you however please note that your tryout must be completed prior to the start of the Junior Guard session you are in.
The purpose of Junior Guard tryouts is to test participants swimming skills and their comfort in an open water environment. This is not a competitive or timed tryout, but is a method for State Parks lifeguards to evaluate each participants aquatic ability. State Parks Lifeguards will be on site for aquatic safety supervision.
