SACRAMENTO, Calif.— In celebrating the service of U.S. military veterans, California State Parks is offering free admission to 144 select state parks on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023.

Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park Invites You to Connect with the Past at Coloma Gold Rush Live 2023

COLOMA, Calif.— Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park (SHP) in Coloma is pleased to announce the return of Coloma Gold Rush Live! The public is invited to experience California’s rich Gold Rush history at this live event on Friday and Saturday, October 13-14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this 3-day event, park staff and volunteers transform the park into an 1850s tent town where visitors can get a taste of what life was like in Coloma in 1850.

Commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the Gold Discovery at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

COLOMA, Calif.— California State Parks invites the public to commemorate the 175thanniversary of James Marshall’s discovery of gold at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park (SHP) this Saturday, January 21 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Gold Discovery Day, which was inaugurated in Coloma in 1948 on the centennial of the discovery, will include activities and living history demonstrations throughout the park. 

“Christmas in Coloma” Returns to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

COLOMA, Calif.—California State Parks is pleased to announce the return of “Christmas in Coloma” at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park (SHP) on Saturday and Sunday, December 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. Community members, families and out-of- town guests are invited to enjoy traditional family-oriented holiday activities and explore historic buildings at the park.

California State Parks and Partners Celebrate Opening of Gam Saan Trail to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

COLOMA, Calif.—California State Parks, the Locke Foundation and members of the Chinese American community celebrated the opening of the Gam Saan Trail on Friday, February 11, that connects Hennigsen Lotus Park in Lotus, CA with Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. Gam Saan, meaning Gold Mountain in Cantonese, was the historical name given to the gold fields of California by Chinese forty-niners and miners.

HistoriCorps Helps Breathe New Life into IOOF Hall at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

COLOMA, Calif.—California State Parks is working with HistoriCorps to restore the community hall built by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), one of the oldest fraternal organization buildings in the state. The IOOF Hall is located at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, California, where gold was first discovered in 1848.

Start the New Year in the Outdoors With a First Day Hike - California State Parks Hosting Approximately 50 Hikes Statewide

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Looking to burn off some holiday calories and start the new year on the right foot?
