California State Parks
California State Parks Backpacking (CASPBA) is a California State Parks program. Our mission is to provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation.
This program is made possible by Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, Mountain Parks Foundation, Sempervirens Fund, Portola and Castle Rock Foundation, and Waddell Creek Association.
Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks
Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks is an entrepreneurial nonprofit sustaining the legacy of 32 state parks and beaches in Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties. Through an innovative partnership with California State Parks, and by leveraging local community support, Friends funds educational programs, visitor services and capital projects.
Mountain Parks Foundation
The mission of Mountain Parks Foundation (MPF) is to provide resources that enrich visitors’ experiences by expanding their knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment and cultural heritage of Henry Cowell Redwoods and Big Basin Redwoods State Parks.
MPF’s primary function is to partner with the community to invest in educational experiences that inspire protection of the redwoods state parks in our area. MPF supports educational and visitor enrichment programs at Henry Cowell and Big Basin such as nature museums, visitor centers, natural and cultural history events, professional interpretive staff, supplies and resources used by docents and volunteers, trail signs, information panels, books, guides, maps and printed park materials. MPF acquires its funding from individual donations, business sponsorships, grants, and revenue from retail sales at the Henry Cowell Nature Store and special events.
