Guide Trainee Positions

Notice: Monterey State Historic Park is currently hiring Guide Trainees ($17.73 per hour). Please read on to learn more about working for California State Parks and how to apply for a Guide Trainee position at Monterey State Historic Park. 

This job is part-time with a limit of 1,500 hours per calendar year. Job duties include, but are not limited to, staffing park museums, leading guided tours, monitoring special events, and assisting with school programs.  

Depending on classification, employees are sometimes required to separate from state service after 9 months, then are eligible to re-apply for the next hiring cycle. Some positions are for year-round part time work for candidates wishing to remain in State Park service.

Candidates must be able to work weekends and holidays (except Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Day when the park is closed). Must pass LiveScan background check and purchase own uniform.
