*Enrollment in the Monterey Junior Lifeguard Program is first come - first served. Due to the popularity of the program, enrollment is expected to fill to capacity quickly!!!
2022 Session Dates:
Session 1: JUNE 13TH - JULY 1ST
Session 2: JULY 11TH- JULY 29TH
COSTS
$475 per Session
*Note: We do not give sibling or multiple session discounts at this time.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. You Must Be Between the Ages of 9 and 15
2. YOU MUST PASS THE JG SWIM TEST (First time participants only).
JG SWIM TEST:
Date: May 15th and May 22nd 2022
Location: Monterey Sports Center @ 5pm
- Swim 100 yards continuously using ONLY the front crawl/freestyle stroke
- Swim under water for 10 yards
- Tread water for 3 minutes
Time Standards for the 100 Yard Swim Are As Follows:
Ages 9 - 11: under three minutes and thirty seconds
Ages 12 - 13: under three minutes
Ages 14 - 15: under two minutes and thirty seconds
*Note: For the safety of participants and integrity of the program these times are strict. Participants will be accepted based on their times as well as their forward progression in the water.
Please understand that a child may physically complete all phases of testing and still may not be accepted into the JG program. The Instructors approve a youth's skill level based upon his/her swimming ability, competence, and confidence. This is done for the safety of the child, as well as the success of the program. We highly apprecitiate your understanding.
**All new students must successfully complete the whole testing process to be eligible for the program. Please refer to the "IMPORTANT DATES" page for more information in regards to testing dates, time, and location.
PROGRAM LOCATIONS
All sessions will be located at MONTEREY STATE BEACH.
Monterey State Beach is located at the South end of Sand Dunes Drive next to the Tides Hotel. Look for the 'Houghton M. Roberts Beach Parking Lot.
REFUNDS
Refunds will be granted under the following conditions:
1.) Participant fails the tryout or does not show up to tryout.
2.) Participant becomes injured or ill while participating in JGs. The injury/illness must be significant enough to prevent their future active participation. Injury/illness must be substantiated with a written Doctor's note. Refund will be pro-rated from injury date to last day of that JG Session.
