Work crewColumbia State Historic Park is always looking for those that love to swing a hammer, use some muscles, and perhaps get a little dirty. Established as a support team for the interpretive program that focuses on using trade skills and strong hands , the Volunteer Work Crew program assists in maintaining the facilities and landscape of the park. Common projects include building repair and upkeep, historic furniture creation and repair, gardening, and vegetation control.

The special event known as Diggins Tent Town 1852 works to recreate what Columbia looked like in 1852, including what buildings may have been present. Over the years multiple buildings have been erected by the Work Crew in period correct design to add to the historical landscape of the special event.

The Work Crew is a great place for those with trade skills that want to volunteer for the park but not necessarily talk with the visitors.
