dressesA key part of the success of the Columbia State Historic Park living history programs is the Historic Clothing Resource Center (HCRC). This specialized program supports docents with period correct clothing that is specific to the Gold Rush Era (1850-1870) of California. This interpretive resource is vital in the parks pursuit of interpreting it’s past with as much authenticity as possible.

Along with an impressive collection of Gold Rush clothing, the team of dedicated volunteers work to organize, mend, distribute and purchase period correct garments and their supporting accessories to active docents.

HCRC OfficeVolunteers in the program often have special knowledge of appropriate Gold Rush era clothing for men, women and children as well as being proficient in sewing and mending clothing.

Volunteer Schedule – Year-round. Average 1 day per month.

Time Commitment – Minumum of 20hrs per year required. Monthly meetings.

Qualifications – None required.Experience in historic clothing and sewing is welcome, experience is not necessary as anyone can join and learn from the team.

Training – ½ day orientation and training. Available year-round.
