Columbia Archives Volunteer
For many years Columbia State Historic Park volunteers have operated the Columbia Archives Program that collects historical information for not only park staff and volunteers, but for the general public as well. This unique archive contains vast information relevant to the town of Columbia, the California Gold Rush, mining, and other relevant topics. Information ranges from primary source documents to newly discovered information. Along with a well organized filing system of historical documents, the archive also contains an extensive library often used by park volunteers.
The Columbia Archive Program utilizes volunteers that are passionate about preserving historical information and supporting documents including journals, photos, maps, reports, etc. Duties include sorting and filing of newly discovered information and books, maintaining organization of existing records and books, and serving as a guide to individuals performing research on Columbia.
The office for this program is located in the back of the historic D.O. Mills Bank located just off Main Street in the park.
