***Please note that while Bodie is "open" year-around, roads to Bodie may become impassable in winter and closed for the winter season. Please check road conditions and weather prior to visiting Bodie***

1) Highway 270 - "The Bodie Road" 

This road is 10 miles of pavement and 3 miles of rough dirt road. Speed limit on dirt roads is 15 miles per hour. 

  • From Bridgeport - Take Highway 395 about 6 miles south of Bridgeport. Turn left onto Highway 270. Takes approximately 45 minutes. 
  • From Lee Vining / Mono Lake / Yosemite - Take Highway 395 approximately 20 miles north. Turn right on to Highway 270. Takes approximanetly 45 minutes. 

 ***This road is not plowed and is closed for winter. ***

 


 

2) Cottonwood Canyon Road 

This road begins north of Mono Lake and is about a 45 minute drive from Lee Vining. 

  • From Lee Vining / Mono Lake / Yosemite - Take Highway 395 north. Turn right onto CA-167 east. Turn left onto Conway Ranch Road for .5 miles. Turn right onto Goat Ranch Cutoff for 7 miles. Follow Cottonwood Canyon Road to Bodie. 

***In winter, this road is impacted by snow. In spring, vehicles easily become stuck in mud. The road maybe closed by the county so abide by any road closures.***

 


 

3) Aurora Canyon Road/Masonic 

This dirt road begins outside of Bridgeport CA, is approximately 20 miles and take about an hour in good conditions. Four-wheel drive, high clearance vehicles are recommmended. 

  • From Bridgeport - Head east on Highway 395. Turn left onto CA-182 north 0.3 miles just past the bridge. Turn right onto Aurora Canyon Road and follow past the Bridgeport cemetery. This road will become dirt. 

***This road is not advised in winter or spring due to mud and snow banks.***

 


 

4) Luck Boy Pass / Aurora Road 

This road is accessed by way of Hawthorne, Nevada or Sweetwater Canyon. It is not maintained and is impassable due to road damage caused by last year's historic snow storms.
