Our Program
Morning Session: 8:30am-11:30am (Drop off 8am-8:30am / Pick up 11:30am)
Afternoon Session: 12:30pm-3:30pm (Drop off 12pm-12:30pm / Pick up 3:30pm)
Main focuses of our Jr. Lifeguard program involve general aquatic safety, team building exercises, and physical fitness. The majority of the programs content revolves around the following areas:
Recreation: Surfing, Bodyboarding, Beach Flags, Paddle Boards, Swimming, and Land Based Games.
Education: CPR Skills, First Aid Skills, Mock Rescues, Victim Recognition, Beach Operations
Interpretation: Beach Hazards, Wetlands, Tides, ect.
Conditioning: Activities designed to increase ocean skills while engaging in cardio excersixe.
Group Determination
Initial group assignments will be determined by a participants respective age. The groups of the program consist of the following:
C Groups (9–11 year-old), B Groups (11-13 year old), A group (13-14 year old).
We understand the want to be with your friends, and will try to honor that request the best we can, however is not guarenteed. There will be a number of activities that are done by the entire group of like aged participants.
Assistants (15 years old) will be divided up evenly to assist with each group.
Our Staff
Our staff is made up of currently employed and fully trained California State Parks Ocean Lifeguards. Our instructors goals are to assure the safety of each participant, pass down their advanced knowledge of the ocean, educate their groups using their trained skills in first response and rescue, and to build condfidence and knodledge in each participant. The ratio of students to instructor is 20:1.
