California State Parks will begin accepting online and mail-in applications for the 2026 Senior Golden Bear Pass starting December 1. The 2026 Senior Golden Bear passes will be shipped in mid-December and will be valid starting January 1. In-person application processing will begin on January 1.

Previously known as the Limited Use Golden Bear, this $20 Senior Golden Bear pass entitles the pass holder and spouse or registered domestic partner free vehicle day-use access at over 200 California State Parks-operated units. Senior Golden Bear passes are not valid for use during the peak season, which is the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day at most state parks. Senior Golden Bear passes are valid from issuance until December 31 of the year in which the pass was issued.

WHO QUALIFIES 

  • Those age 62 and over. 

HOW TO OBTAIN THE SENIOR GOLDEN BEAR PASS  

  1. Apply and submit your documents, including payment. 
  2. Get approved. You will receive a 30-day temporary pass that you can use while your pass is in the mail.
  3. Receive your pass. 
  4. Enjoy free day-use entry to the parks.

LOST OR STOLEN PASSES 

A lost or damaged pass may be replaced only by reapplying for the pass. No refunds can be issued. Prior to reapplying, pass applicants must contact us through Park Pass Questions to report the pass as lost or stolen.
