Oceano Dunes District
About the District
Located on California's Central Coast, within the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes complex, Oceano Dunes District manages Pismo State Beach and Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. Within these two park units the district manages Pismo Dunes Natural Preserve, Pismo Lake property, Oso Flaco Lake, Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove and the North Beach and Oceano Campgrounds. The District serves over 2.6 million visitors annually within an eight-mile stretch of sandy coastline, 4,800 acres of coastal sand dunes and urban park settings, consisting of one of the most dynamic coastal habitats in the United States. State Parks strive to preserve California's extraordinary biological diversity and protect it most valued natural and cultural resources, all while providing the public high quality recreational opportunities. This part of the Central Coast has so much to share about California's history and provides a wide variety of recreational oppurtunities.
