Fishing
Fishing is available year round. Brannan Island offers fishing access along the Sacramento River, Three Mile Slough and Seven Mile Slough. Many people enjoy fishing from the banks or the fishing pier located in the day use area. The pier is disabled accessible.
January through March
Sturgeon are active in the San Joaquin and Sacramento river. It can be very windy and foggy.
April through June
Some sturgeon activity, but the striped bass begin spawning migration upriver. Black bass in the sloughs begin to bite. The shad run begins.
July through September
Slow fishing. Late August and September, salmon begin moving upriver for their spawning migration.
October through December
Salmon head up the Sacramento River. Stripers and some steelhead move into the area. Watch out for wind and fog.
