SACRAMENTO — On the heels of Governor Gavin Newsom’s latest executive order aimed at expanding the use of beneficial fire, California State Parks recently wrapped up prescribed burn operations at several parks statewide, continuing a significant expansion thanks to strategic investments under the Newsom administration’s wildfire packages.
SACRAMENTO – California State Parks invites all off-roading enthusiasts – experienced and new – to participate in the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division’s OHV Safety Week from Nov. 15 to 23. This year’s theme, “Ride to Ride Again,” emphasizes the importance of responsible and respectful riding so all riders can safely enjoy California’s diverse off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails – not only today but also tomorrow and in the future.
LANCASTER – California State Park’s Antelope Valley Indian Museum State Historic Park (SHP) will showcase seven Indigenous artists during Native American Heritage Month. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet and engage with the artists and purchase their artwork.
SONOMA COUNTY — California State Parks is planning up to 47 acres of prescribed burns near Gerstle Cove at Salt Point State Park, beginning as early as Friday, Oct. 31, or when conditions permit. The park will remain open during burn days. The Southern Terminus of the Salt Point Trail Parking Lot and Overflow Parking/Camping will be temporarily closed.
