BIG SUR —California State Parks will reopen Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to the public on Friday, Oct. 16, after the park was temporarily closed during the Timber Fire, which burned approximately 517 acres within the park, including many of its trails.
MALIBU —California State Parks today announced repairs will begin later this month on Malibu Pier in Malibu Lagoon State Beach following the recent award of an emergency contract. This marks a major step toward safely reopening the end of the pier, which has been temporarily closed since January 2025 as a precautionary safety measure to address critical structural concerns. The rest of the pier has remained open to the public.
