Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park Severely Damaged by Fire

CHICO – Around 3 a.m. today, a fire broke out at Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park and severely damaged the mansion. Chico Fire Department responded and worked to save what remains of the historic building. The incident is under investigation and California State Parks is working with allied agencies, including CAL FIRE’s Office of the State Fire Marshall, Chico Fire Department, Chico Police Department, and California State University, Chico.

Office of Historic Preservation Announces Start of the State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks’ Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) announced today it will begin accepting applications for the State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program at 8 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2025. California property owners can apply for the credit to rehabilitate and maintain their historical buildings and qualified residences, retaining Californians’ link to the past while keeping historic buildings and homes relevant in the present and beyond.
