Portions of Lake Oroville State Recreation Area Remain Closed to Public due to North Complex Fire

LAKE OROVILLE, Calif.— In a unified command with CAL FIRE, California State Parks today announced that portions of Lake Oroville State Recreation Area (SRA) remain closed until further notice due to the North Complex Fire burning in Plumas and Butte counties. Public access for boating and other day-use recreation on the water cannot be accommodated at this time due to public safety concerns and ongoing firefighting efforts.

Boating Under the Influence Hurts More People Than Just You

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks will be part of the more than 40 California marine law enforcement agencies joining hundreds of enforcement agencies across the United States to increase patrols and/or carry out Boating Under the Influence (BUI) checkpoints on July 5-7 over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Dubbed Operation Dry Water (ODW), the enforcement program’s goal is to help reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities and foster a stronger, more visible deterrent to boating under the influence.
