Celebrate Indigenous Communities at Andrew Molera State Park during California State Parks Week

BIG SUR — California State Parks invites the public to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and enduring stewardship of Indigenous communities during a special event at Andrew Molera State Park on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hosted as part of the fifth annual California State Parks Week, the event will feature cultural presentations and hands-on activities led by the Esselen Tribe of Monterey County and the KaKoon Ta Ruk Band of Ohlone-Costanoan Indians of the Big Sur Rancheria. Visitors will have the opportunity to connect with tribal community members and learn about the traditions, stories and history of the Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land for thousands of years.
Activities will include:
- basketmaking
- jewelry making
- traditional songs and stories
- family-friendly cultural activities for all ages
The event will be near the parking area. Visitors should follow posted directional signage at arrival.
The celebration is free and open to the public. RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
