4th of July: Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the United States

To celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, Angel Island State Park is hosting special activities for the entirety of the long weekend: enjoy music and food, experience living history, and meet descendants with personal connections to the island’s history! Activities will be at various locations along a paved 5-mile road. Visitors can travel by scenic bike or hike to each of the locations below, and by a paid shuttle service to the US Immigration Station. On 4th of July proper, there will be paid shuttle service to all locations!  

July 3

Ayala Cove

  • Bike rentals, tram service, music, hiking, picnicking, day-use boat slips

Camp Reynolds (Civil War)

  • Late 19th century living history volunteers
  • 12pm, 1pm: cannon firing demonstrations
  • 11am-3pm: Officer’s home (Quarters 10)
  • 11am-3pm: Bake House open to the public with live baking in wood-fired oven

Fort McDowell (WWI/WWII)

  • 11am-3pm: Chapel and Guard House open to the public

US Immigration Station

  • 11am-4pm: Self-guided tours
    • Detention Barracks Museum: $5/adults, $3/youth
    • Angel Island Immigration Museum (AIIM): FREE

July 4

Quarantine Station

  • Quarantine Station living history talk
  • Meet a descendant of Angel Island

Recreation

  • Special holiday menu and live music at Angel Island Café
