Overview

Two covered picnic areas at Lot #1, and four covered picnic areas at Lot #7, are accessible, including parking and the route to the picnic areas. Accessible outdoor rinsing showers and drinking fountains are available at both locations. As of 1/2025, restrooms at the north end of Lot #1 are temporarily closed pending the completion of restroom accessibility upgrades. Restrooms at the south end of Lot #1 and the north and south end of Lot #7 are usable; however, users may encounter barriers including but not limited to: noncompliant cross slope/running slope within the route to the restrooms, narrow restroom doorways, tight toilet room maneuvering space, grab bars at inconsistent heights, foot pedal toilet flushing mechanisms that require more than 5 pounds of force to operate, outdoor sinks lacking knee clearance, and sink controls that require more than 5 pounds of force to operate.Trails
The Huntington Beach Bike Trail is a flat 1.9 mile paved accessible trail along the entire length of Huntington State Beach. The beach bike trail is a popular paved trail used by hikers, bikers and roller skate/blade users. Entry to the trail and accessible parking are available from any day use lot; trailhead is located at the southern end of Lot #1. Continuing north on the bike trail beyond the limits of Huntington State Beach takes you to Huntington City Beach and eventually to Bolsa Chica State Beach. Total length of the bike trail is nearly 8.5 miles from the southern tip of Huntington State Beach to the northern tip of Bolsa Chica State Beach. Within the limits of Huntington State Beach, restrooms and drinking fountains are located between each lot along the trail. These facilities are usable, however, some users may experience challenges with their accessibility. Beach/Shore Access
Accessible parking is available in all day use lots, and each lot provides access to the beach bike trail. At six locations along the beach bike trail, a wide paved pathway (Spencer Ramp) extends across the surface of the beach toward the high tide line. Spencer Ramps are adjacent to Lot(s) #1, #2, #4, #7, #9, and #10, but can be accessed from any point along the beach bike trail that runs the length of the beach.South of Lot #1, two wide paved paths on either side of the Talbert Flood Control Channel extend approximately 580 feet toward the ocean and are generally accessible. Accessible parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Least Tern Natural Preserve.
Restrooms, outdoor rinsing showers, and drinking fountains are located between every lot, adjacent to the beach bike trail. These facilities are usable; however, some users may experience challenges with their accessibility. Accessible outdoor rinsing showers and drinking fountains are available at the north ends of Lot #1 and Lot #7, adjacent to the beach bike trail.
