California State Parks Encourages Californians to Invest More Time in the Outdoors on Earth Day

SACRAMENTO, Calif., — What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by visiting the outdoors and learning how you can help protect natural and cultural resources? California has over 200 state park and beaches that can be enjoyed this Earth Day (Saturday, April 22) and year-round to go on a hike, walk among the giant sequoias and redwoods, discover the waterfalls along the trails, get a glimpse of the wildlife or simply enjoy the breathtaking views along the coastline or mountains.

Boating Under the Influence Hurts More People Than Just You

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks will be part of the more than 40 California marine law enforcement agencies joining hundreds of enforcement agencies across the United States to increase patrols and/or carry out Boating Under the Influence (BUI) checkpoints on July 5-7 over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Dubbed Operation Dry Water (ODW), the enforcement program’s goal is to help reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities and foster a stronger, more visible deterrent to boating under the influence.
