California State Parks to Suspend Tours at Hearst Castle Beginning Monday, March 16

In an effort to protect public health and the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff as the state responds to the continuing outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), effective Monday, March 16, California State Parks is temporarily suspending all tours at Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument. Hearst Castle is not directly affected by COVID-19, State Parks is monitoring the situation carefully and is committed to following the state’s updated policy on social gatherings to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Hearst Castle Visitor Center to Install Solar Canopy in Parking Lot

SAN SIMEON, Calif. — California State Parks announced today a project to install a 85,000 square foot photo voltaic canopy (solar panel array) over the visitor center’s parking lot below the Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument. This project, which will begin on Tuesday, April 24, represents the department’s commitment to protect the environment and fight climate change.
