California State Parks Graduates 28 Peace Officers from Law Enforcement Academy in Paradise

California State Parks today announced the addition of 28 new peace officers that will “Live the Parks Life” as rangers and lifeguards in the nation’s largest state park system. Yesterday, family members, friends and department staff applauded the class of cadets as they received their badges. As peace officers, they will serve, protect and educate visitors to California’s 280 state parks, while protecting the state’s most significant natural and cultural resources.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California State Parks announced today the addition of 29 new peace officers to serve in the nation’s largest state park system. Yesterday, family members, friends and department staff applauded the class of cadets as they received their badges to officially make them peace officers (rangers and lifeguards).

State Parks Announces New Structure to Better Serve Californians and Improve Stewardship

The California Department of Parks and Recreation today announced a new organizational structure aimed at better serving Californians who enjoy the Golden State’s public outdoor spaces. The structure and related transition activities and benefits are outlined in an Operational Transition Plan that reflects extensive research and input from internal and external stakeholders. The new organizational structure is part of a two-year transformation effort that renewed the department’s commitment to improving the state parks system and the many recreational programs supported by DPR. It marks the first department-wide organizational structure change since the early 1990s.

California State Parks Provides Tips on New Reservation System: ReserveCalifornia™ Goes Live August 1

California State Parks is offering the public tips on how to access the Golden State’s new reservation system - ReserveCalifornia™. Starting next Tuesday, August 1, visitors to California’s state parks will have a new platform for booking camping and lodging sites, and tours. Using the new system will be easy to plan adventures within state parks, since it is similar to booking hotels, airline tickets and other comparable services.
