Division of Boating and Waterways Offers Grants to Help Keep California’s Waterways Clean - $1.17 million available for the deployment of floating restrooms

The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from public government agencies for the purchase and deployment of floating restrooms on California waterways. Interested applicants should review the grant guidelines and submit a grant application to DBW by 5 p.m. (PST) Friday, Dec. 11, 2020.

California State Parks Enacts 5 mph Limit Due to Low Water Levels at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

Tuesday, October 20, 2020

California State Parks is asking visitors to be cautious while enjoying Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (SRA), as low water levels have left four of the five boat ramps dry. There will also be a 5 mph maximum speed limit established for the entire lake starting this Thursday, October 22, for public safety due to hazards and the low water conditions.

The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from public government agencies for the purchase and deployment of floating restrooms on California waterways. Interested applicants should review the grant guidelines and submit a grant application to DBW’s office by Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at 5 p.m. PST.

California Accepting Applications for On-the-Water Boating Safety Education Grants - Application Deadline Set for Nov. 5, 2019

The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting Aquatic Center Education Grant applications to help keep water enthusiasts safe on California’s waterways. Local public agencies, nonprofit organizations, colleges and universities operating on-the-water boating safety education programs within California can apply for these education grants. The application deadline is Tuesday, November 5, 2019 by 5 p.m.

Division of Boating and Waterways Now Accepting Grant Applications to Keep California’s Waterways Clean - Grant Applications due October 14, 2019

The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications for the Clean Vessel Act Education and Outreach (CVAEO) Grant Program. A maximum of $262,000 in federal funding per targeted region is available to organizations for educating coastal and San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary boaters about proper vessel sewage disposal, use of pumpout facilities, and monitoring pumpout stations. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, Oct. 14, 2019 before 10 a.m.

Division of Boating and Waterways Launches National Safe Boating Week (May 18 – 24): Wearing Life Jackets is the Best Way to Survive an Emergency

With the official kickoff of the boating season approaching this coming Memorial Day weekend, the Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is reminding water enthusiasts to keep themselves and their loved ones safe during National Safe Boating Week and throughout the year. DBW advises boaters to always check the water conditions­­––whether it’s the California coast or inland rivers and lakes––and their safety equipment, and always wear a life jacket.

California Participates in a National Awareness and Enforcement Campaign to Reduce Alcohol- and Drug-Related Accidents

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) announced today the participation of more than 40 California marine law enforcement agencies in the national boating under the influence (BUI) awareness and enforcement campaign dubbed “Operation Dry Water.” From Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1, law enforcement agencies across the United States will increase patrols and/or carry out BUI checkpoints to help reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities and foster a stronger, more visible deterrent to their use on the water.
