California State Park and Recreation Commission Renames Patrick’s Point State Park to Sue-meg State Park and Approves General Plan for Auburn State Recreation Area

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – At a virtual public meeting today, the California State Park and Recreation Commission voted to rename a state park to honor the place name used by the Yurok people since time immemorial and adopted a long-range management plan for Auburn State Recreation Area (SRA).

California State Parks Partially Restricts Public Parking at Auburn State Recreation Area to Avoid Dangerous Visitation Surges

AUBURN, Calif. -- California State Parks today announced a temporary restriction for public parking on Yankee Jims Road, located within Auburn State Recreation Area (SRA). Effective today, the road will be closed to parking until further notice to avoid visitation surges and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in this popular outdoor destination. During this temporary restriction, the road will remain open for through traffic. Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced (view order).

Final Environmental Documents on Future of Auburn State Recreation Area Now Available - Auburn SRA General Plan/Resource Management Plan

California State Parks and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) today released the final environmental impact report/environmental impact statement (EIR/EIS) for the general plan/resource management plan (GP/RMP) that will guide the future development and management of Auburn State Recreation Area (Auburn SRA) and Auburn Project Lands (APL).

Potential Cyanobacteria and Harmful Algal Blooms in Auburn and Folsom Lake State Recreation Areas

California State Parks has recently become aware of suspected incidents of harmful algal blooms (HABs) within both the Auburn and Folsom Lake State Recreation Areas. As California confronts the realities of climate change, HABs have become increasingly common in rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and they can be especially dangerous to children and pets. State Parks is encouraging recreational users of all bodies of fresh water in Auburn and Folsom Lake State Recreation Areas to be aware of the potential for cyanobacteria harmful algal blooms (HABs).

Preliminary Plan and Draft Environmental Documents on Future of Auburn State Recreation Area Now Available

California State Parks and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation invite the public to attend its upcoming open house to get the latest update on the future of Auburn State Recreation Area (Auburn SRA). The public will be able to study exhibits, ask questions and leave written comments on the joint Auburn SRA Preliminary General Plan/Auburn Project Lands Resource Management Plan (Plan) and a Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS).

California State Parks to Host Public Open House to Review Auburn State Recreation Area’s Future

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California State Parks invites the public to attend its upcoming open house and help shape the future of Auburn State Recreation Area(Auburn SRA).The open house will be heldTuesday, June 26, 2018at the Gold Country Fairgrounds Sierra Building, 209 Fairgate Road in Auburn (95603). Members of the public may visit anytime from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. to study the exhibits, ask questions and leave their written comments. There will not be a scheduled presentation. Children are welcome.
