Celebrate culture and community during CA State Parks Week at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park. This event features hands-on activities, guest speakers, puppet show, guided hike, and demonstrations.  This event is for all ages.

Location: Meet at the Chaw’se Museum at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park and find activities at the museum and the picnic area.

10:30 AM Puppet show with Marge Grow-Eppard, California Valley Miwok Tribe 

10:30 AM – 2:30PM Ongoing demonstrations 

  • Cultural Practitioners Lillian Hall, of Ione Band of Miwok Indians and Jesse Galvan, California Valley Miwok Tribe – Tule Activity 
  • State Parks –  gel print station 
  • State Parks –  animal communities station 

11 AM Fire Making Demonstration w/Steven Walloupe, Citizen of Ione Band of Miwok Indians

1:15 PM  Dr. Anthony Burris, Citizen of Ione Band of Miwok Indians, Assistant Professor  of Native American Studies, CSUS Speaker Lower Museum – Ione Band of Miwok Indians Cultural Survivance

2:15 PM Event photo with everyone willing
