Golden Bear Award FAQs
Who can submit a nomination?
Members of the public and anyone who works for, with, or in support of the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) can submit a nomination. Thank you for taking the time to do so!
Can I submit more than one nomination?
Absolutely! You are welcome to nominate as many individuals or organizations that you believe meet the nomination criteria: through their work for, with, or in support of DPR, demonstrated leadership and contributed significantly toward the department's mission: to provide for the health, inspiration, and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation.
Can past or present OHMVR, OHP, and DBW employees be nominated?
Yes, definitely! DPR includes many divisions, including the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division, the Office of Historic Preservation (OHP), and the Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW). We'd love nominees from all divisions!
What do award recipients receive?
Recipients receive a framed Golden Bear Award certificate and will be recognized during a meeting of the California State Park and Recreation Commission.
