Larry Felton is a historical archaeologist and started working for the California Department of Parks and Recreation in 1975. He was involved in a wide variety of projects in locations ranging from San Diego to Eureka (Fort Humboldt SHP). However, his main interests are in Mexican Republic-era sites and structures, especially in Sonoma, Monterey, and Old Town San Diego. He is a specialist in early 19th-Century ceramics and electronic data management.

Larry Felton received his degree from the University of the Americas in Pueblo, Mexico. He has published several scholarly works on excavations and artifacts including co-authoring The Diaz Privy Volume and a work on a Chinese laundry in Woodland, California.
