Input from the public will help State Parks establish a new grant program - the Outdoor Equity Grant Program - in support of providing equitable access to all Californians.

Simple actions such as staying local, planning ahead, and following social distancing guidelines, can increase the outdoor experience for everyone. Additionally, recreating responsibly helps ensure that expanded access to recreational facilities, services and opportunities continues -- day use areas of national forests and state parks currently open to the public remain open for the health and welfare of Californians.

California State Parks Announces Application Workshops for Rural and Regional Park Grants

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks is offering virtual application workshops to help local agencies and non-profit organizations prepare for a combined $46.2 million in funding for two new competitive statewide grant programs. The online application workshops will take place starting Jan. 12, 2021 through Feb. 4, 2021 for the Regional Park and the Rural Recreation and Tourism programs. The application deadline to propose projects for both programs is Nov. 5, 2021 by 5 p.m. PST.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.— With the Thanksgiving holiday weekend approaching, California State Parks, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)), and California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES)advise outdoor enthusiasts to recreate responsibly by being prepared, flexible and respectful when venturing into the outdoors. With many activities limited during the COVID-19 pandemic, outdoor public spaces have been essential to many Californians. As a result, high visitation surges are expected this desert season, including over Thanksgiving weekend.
