SAN SIMEON, Calif., — California State Parks will close the restrooms at the Hearst San Simeone Historical Monument (Hearst Castle) Visitor Center beginning Wednesday, July 13, 2022, as part of its Drought Contingency Plan. Portable chemical toilets will be available to the public at the Visitor Center.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks today announced recommendations to the National Park Service for $45 million in Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants for 16 local park projects. Funding would provide public and private agencies the ability to acquire land and/or develop recreational amenities such as playgrounds, exercise stations, basketball courts, community gardens, and dog and skate parks.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California State Parks today announced $4.6 million in grant funding from Proposition 68 to renovate aging infrastructure in need of repair within seven locally-operated California state parks. Applying for one is a simple process, it costs $10 and lasts a lifetime. Operators who are not in compliance with the law and caught operating a vessel without their California Boater Card will be cited accordingly. This is considered an infraction and base fines can range anywhere from $100 – $500.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – On one of the deadliest holidays for recreational boating-related accidents, California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is reminding recreational boaters to avoid alcohol this Fourth of July holiday weekend. DBW and more than 45 law enforcement entities across California will be participating in a nationwide boating under the influence (BUI) effort from July 2 – 4. Dubbed “Operation Dry Water,” law enforcement entities will increase patrols and/or carry out BUI checkpoints.
