California State Parks and Palisades Community Celebrate Reopening of Will Rogers State Historic Park

PACIFIC PALISADES – California State Parks, the Palisades community and park partners celebrated a major milestone over the weekend at Will Rogers State Historic Park (SHP) – the beloved park’s reopening 10 months after the devastating Palisades Fire. For the first time since early January, the park welcomed visitors on Saturday, Nov. 8, as they enjoyed guided hikes and historical walks along the accessible trails, polo demonstrations, lawn games and witnessed the incredible resilience and recovery of the historic park.

Parks California Launches $5 Million Effort for Fire-Affected Los Angeles Area State Parks

SACRAMENTO – Parks California announced today the launch of a $5 million fundraising effort in support of California State Parks to reimagine, restore and reopen state parks affected by the January 2025 Los Angeles firestorm. The RENEW LA Fund seeks donor investments to accelerate State Parks’ ability to initiate fire recovery and resiliency planning for Will Rogers State Historic Park and Topanga State Park, both badly damaged in the Palisades Fire.

Palisades Fire Destroys Historic Homes and Buildings at Will Rogers State Historic Park and Topanga State Park

PACIFIC PALISADES —The devastating Palisades Fire destroyed historic buildings and multiple structures at two California State Parks last night, including Will Rogers’ historic ranch house and buildings at Will Rogers State Historic Park (SHP). The fire fueled by wind gusts up to 80 mph also destroyed parts of Topanga State Park (SP), including the historic Topanga Ranch Motel.
