California State Parks’ Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division Awards More Than $23 Million in Grants

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks’ Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division announced today more than $23 million in final awards for the 2025 Grants and Cooperative Agreements program (Grants program). Eighty-one local and federal agencies, districts and nonprofit organizations were awarded funding for their off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation activities.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offers Grants to Enhance Recreational Boating Safety Education

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from organizations that teach on-the-water boating safety education to the public. Approximately $1.4 million in Aquatic Center Education Program grants is available to local public agencies, nonprofit organizations and colleges/universities operating within California. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 24 at noon.

California State Parks Begins Debris Cleanup at Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park

CHICO - California State Parks is beginning the cleanup phase at Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park. Starting this week, a contractor will clear debris around the historic mansion that was severely damaged in an arson fire on Dec. 11, 2024. Work will include removing all fire-damaged debris around the perimeter of the main historic brick structure.

Division of Boating and Waterways Encourages Boaters to Boat Sober this Fourth of July Holiday Weekend

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is urging all boaters to boat sober this coming Fourth of July holiday weekend. DBW and local law enforcement agencies will be participating in Operation Dry Water from July 4-6, 2025, a nationwide initiative to reduce boating under the influence (BUI) and to promote safe boating practices.

Nominations for 2024 California State Parks’ Golden Bear Awards Open Through June 30

SACRAMENTO — The California State Park and Recreation Commission (SPRC) is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Golden Bear Awards. These awards honor and celebrate individuals and organizations acting in support of the California Department of Parks and Recreation and its mission to provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation. The nomination period is open through Monday, June 30, 2025.

Celebrate National Safe Boating Week May 17–23
