Division of Boating and Waterways Begins Control Efforts in the Delta for Aquatic Invasive Plants

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) today announced plans for this year’s control efforts for aquatic invasive plants in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and its southern tributaries. Starting Thursday, March 17, DBW will begin herbicide treatments on water hyacinth, South American spongeplant, Uruguay water primrose, alligator weed, Brazilian waterweed, curlyleaf pondweed, Eurasian watermilfoil, coontail, and fanwort in the Delta. Treatment start dates may change depending on weather conditions and plant growth/movement.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offering Grants for Quagga and Zebra Mussel Infestation Prevention Programs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) today announced the availability of grant funding to prevent the further spread of quagga and zebra mussels into California’s waterways. Funded by the California Boater Mussel Fee Sticker (popularly known as the Quagga sticker), the Quagga and Zebra Mussel Infestation Program expects to award up to $3 million to eligible applicants. Applications will be accepted from Monday, March 7 through Friday, April 15, 2022. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on April 15, 2022.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offering $1.088 Million in Grants for the Deployment of Floating Restrooms

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from public government agencies for the purchase and deployment of floating restrooms on California inland lakes and reservoirs. Interested applicants should review the grant guidelines and submit a grant application to DBW by 5 p.m. (PST) Friday, Dec. 10, 2021.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offers $1.6 Million in Grants to Enhance Recreational Boating Safety Education

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from organizations that teach on-the-water boating safety education to the public.  A total of $1.6 million in grants is available to local public agencies, nonprofit organizations and colleges/universities operating within California for Aquatic Center Education Program grants. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at noon.

Division of Boating and Waterways Encourages Boaters to Avoid Alcohol this Fourth of July Holiday Weekend

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks, its Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) and more than 40 law enforcement entities across California will be participating in a nationwide boating under the influence effort (BUI) for the Fourth of July holiday. Dubbed “Operation Dry Water”, law enforcement entities will increase patrols and/or carry out BUI checkpoints on this holiday known for being one of the deadliest holidays for recreational boating accidents.
