California State Parks Announces Temporary Closure of Fremont Peak State Park for Road Improvements

SAN BENITO — California State Parks will temporarily close Fremont Peak State Park from Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 28 to allow for road paving and infrastructure improvements. The temporary closure is necessary to provide a safe work environment for construction crews completing essential maintenance on the park's main access road. The project will improve roadway conditions, enhance visitor safety, and help ensure reliable access to the park for years to come.
While the park is closed, all public access, including day-use areas, campgrounds, and park roads, will be unavailable.
State Parks appreciates the public's patience and understanding during this temporary closure. These improvements represent an important investment in maintaining safe access to one of the region's most popular destinations.
Fremont Peak State Park is expected to reopen to the public on Aug. 28 upon completion of the project. Visitors are encouraged to check for the latest updates before planning their trip by visiting www.parks.ca.gov/FremontPeak or by calling the park at (831) 623-4881.
