Prescribed Burning at
Morro Bay State Park
San Luis Obispo County

What:Prescribed burning of brush piles.

When:Tuesday, December 9th through Friday, December 19th. Actual burn days will be Tuesday-Thursday and will be determined by weather and permit conditions. Ignitions may start as early as 7 a.m. with fire activity curtailed by approximately 5 p.m.

Where:Morro Bay State Park – the burn unit consists of approximately 100 brush piles on Black Hill between Quintana Road, Quinn Court, and South Bay Trail.

Why:In order to reduce fuel loads and fire hazards as well as enhance the health of the native plant communities, and aid in the control of non-native, weedy species.
