Prescribed Burning at Estero Bluffs State Park

What:  Prescribed burning of grassland and brush piles.

When:  Thursday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Oct. 24. Actual burn days will be determined by weather and permit conditions. Ignitions may start as early as 7 a.m. with fire activity curtailed by approximately 5 p.m.

Where:  Estero Bluffs State Park – the burn unit is approximately 85 acres of grassland west of the Fig Tree Parking Area and approximately 10 brush piles and surrounding slash at San Geronimo.

Why:  To reduce fuel loads and fire hazards, enhance the health of native plant communities, and aid in the control of non-native, weedy species.
