BIG SUR – California State Parks today announced that Limekiln State Park is now open to the public for day use. The park has been closed since the landslide at Paul’s Slide on Jan. 14, 2023, due to safety concerns, including damaged trails and limited beach access. The park is again accessible to visitors from 8 a.m. to sunset daily, for day use only.

• Limekiln Trail to the Pitkins Curve Trail and ocean view overlook is open.
• Hare Creek and Falls Trail remain closed.
• Drivers can only enter Limekiln State Park from the south (Cambria/San Simeon area) via Highway 1.
• Highway 1 is closed approximately 4.4 miles north of the park.
