Earth Day

Name of Event: Earth Day

Date of Event: 4/11/26

Time of Event: 9:00AM to 1:00PM

Location of Event: Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook

Description of Event: Join us for Earth Day 2026 at Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, where volunteers will support a meaningful climate resilience project by helping restore native habitat in the heart of Los Angeles. As the region faces rising temperatures due to the urban heat island effect, planting climate-adapted native species is a powerful way to build a more resilient landscape, support wildlife, and strengthen long-term ecological health. In partnership with Nature Nexus Institute, volunteers will plant drought-tolerant species native to Southern California — such as white sage, black walnut, and California bush sunflower — that conserve water, provide food and shelter for migratory birds and other wildlife, and carry important cultural and ethnobotanical significance. Ages 8 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian). Lunch will be provided.
