GENERAL PLAN OVERVIEW

The purpose of the General Plan at Great Valley Grasslands State Park is to provide a comprehensive planning document that will guide the park’s management, operation, and development. The Plan will identify a long-term vision for the park as well as establish goals and guidelines that will shape the development of future recreational improvements, resource management, and educational opportunities.

As part of the planning process, an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) will be prepared in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts associated with the proposals within the general plan. It considers current and potential public use, park operations, and the protection and enhancement of cultural and natural resources to ensure recreational and educational opportunities are made available to their fullest potential while protecting vital resources.

California State Parks has contracted with Ascent, a planning and environmental consulting firm, to support the preparation of the Great Valley Grasslands State Park General Plan.
