The Junior Lifeguard Program emphasizes Teamwork, Leadership, and Aquatic Safety while introducing young people to safe marine and aquatic recreation opportunities. The program is designed to provide quality water safety education while improving young people's physical conditioning, their understanding and respect for the environment, and their respect for themselves, their parents, and their peers. Students of all abilities and skill levels may participate.
This year, the Lake Perris SRA Junior Lifeguard Program will be implementing a competition day where the Junior Guards will put their newly developed skills and knowledge to the test against other Junior Guard Program participants in an Olympic style competition on the final day of the session (7/1). Following the day's competative events, their will be a Banquet held by the Junior Lifeguard Instructor staff that will include food, games, an award ceremony, and other planned events. More information will be provided during the parent info meeting that will be held closer to the Program's start date.
What do Junior Lifeguards do?
All Stages of the junior Lifeguard program have safety as a primary consideration. Junior Lifeguards will accomplish activities through instruction including: Team building, open water swimming, beach running, paddle boarding, hiking, kayaking, first aid / CPR training, aquatic rescue techniques all while having FUN!
First time participants MUST attend a swim competency test:

**tryouts will be held at Moreno Beach at Lake Perris SRA. Closest parking lot is Parking Lot 8, proceed to Lifeguard Tower 7 on the beach.**

Try-out swim test:
100-yard swim under 3 minutes, and 2-minute continuous water tread
Participants must be able to complete the 100 yard swim without stopping.
This program does not teach swimming. It is for competent swimmers to enhance their aquatic skills and learn the fundamentals of lifeguarding.
Cost:
- $300 per child per session (sibling discounts available)
- All participants must wear blue swim trunks (Not provided)
- Female participants must wear a blue or black one piece swimsuit (Not provided)
- If you would like your child to participate, please register and pay with the link below. If your child has not been a junior lifeguard before they will be required to tryout prior to start of program. If your child does not pass the tryout physical fitness requirements, you will receive a full refund of your registration payment.
