Dr. Peter Schulz worked for the California Department of Parks and Recreation as an archaeologist beginning in the 1970s. His research interests included zooarchaeology, specifically fresh water fishes of the west coast, and historic architecture. He led projects throughout the state in such varied environments as Old Town San Diego, Old Sacramento, China Camp Village, and Bodie SHP.
Dr. Schulz was educated at San Francisco State University and completed his Ph.D. at UC Davis in 1981. He is the author of numerous scholarly papers with particular emphasis on faunal analysis ranging from teeth to meat cuts, but especially fish bones.
