Using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) is one method of digitally recording location data. With GPS devices, such as the one pictured here, one can record the location (accurate within a few meters) of monitoring stations. When coupled with a Geographical Information System (GIS), one can effectively view, store, and analyze data with ease.
