2/7/2026 Big Basin Redwoods SP
CA State Parks Volunteer Recruitment Fair | Santa Cruz Mountains
Join us for our 2nd Annual Volunteer Recruitment Fair on Saturday, February 7th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Visitor Center at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park!
This event is an opportunity to interact with park staff and current volunteers from Big Basin, Castle Rock, Portola, Henry Cowell, and Rancho del Oso, and learn more about the unique opportunity of volunteering with these CA State Parks. Staff are eager to train and onboard folks who are interested in leading public programs, staffing Visitor Centers, and more.
This recruitment fair is the first step in the process of becoming a park volunteer; after the fair, park-specific staff will reach out to book a one-on-one meeting with you to make sure we are a good match. After careful deliberation, staff will invite a limited number of people to attend our training program. The training program will be held on Saturdays, stretching from late March to early May. Dates and details of the training program will be provided at your one-on-one meeting. In this training program, we will give you all the tools and information you will need to fulfill volunteer commitments.
Short-term volunteer opportunities are available regularly. Please visit the park event tab on any official state park website for sign-up and details.
Upon your arrival at the park on the day of the event, let the kiosk staff person know you are here for the volunteer recruitment fair, and they will give you a complimentary 2-hour parking pass.
