Gold Discovery Day

Join us on Saturday January 24, 2026 to celebrate the day that James Marshall found a piece of gold in the tailrace of the sawmill. This chance discovery lead to the start of the California Gold Rush. Park docents will be set up around the sawmill replica from 10:00am-2:00pm showing demonstrations from the 1850's and celebrating the news that gold was discovered.
