South Carlsbad SB
Beachcomber Strolls
Time: 2:30 - 4 pm
Location: Meet at Ponto Rd. staircase (in south half of campground)
Ages: all ages are welcome, minors must be accompanied by a trusted adult
What to bring: a parent or guardian, drinking water, walking shoes, sun protection, binoculars*(optional) and your curiosity!
What to expect: This guided experience is dependent upon tides and will begin atop the campground bluffs and descend onto the beach. Guests should be prepared to go up and down multiple flights of stairs and walk across uneven terrain including sand and cobblestones. Apart from staircases there is no elevation change along the walk. CALIFORNIA STATE PARKS SUPPORTS EQUAL ACCESS. PRIOR TO ARRIVAL, VISITORS WITH DISABILITIES WHO NEED ASSISTANCE SHOULD EMAIL SANDIEGO.INTERP@PARKS.CA.GOV
What we’ll do: The campground's stretch of coastline is constantly changing, and we never know just what the waves will wash up! Join a State Park Interpreter on a 1 mile walk to explore the evidence our ocean leaves behind - clues to what lives below the surface, remnants of what once was, spot some seasonal visitors or a mammal in migration. Each walk is a mystery waiting to be uncovered.
Campers and walk-in guests welcome. No day use parking on site.
