Pantoll Quad Hike: Muir Woods route
Starts at Pantoll at 9am
Four epic hikes that start/end at Pantoll! That is how Friends of Mt Tam describe their Pantoll Quad hikes. Of course, you can use their pamphlet to hike them on your own, or you can join this series of docent-guided hikes for fully guided experiences! Either way, you can get an "I hiked the Pantoll Quad!" pin from Friends of Mt Tam.
This date features the Muir Woods route, a 5.5-mile loop hike that gains about 1500 feet of elevation overall, traversing Stapleveldt, Ben Johnson, Bootjack, and Alpine Trails. This is the route with the biggest climb, but it takes in some of the best redwood forest scenery and the lovely streamside vibes of Redwood/Bootjack Creek. The meeting point is, of course, Pantoll.
Additional information: Dress in layers for variable weather and wear appropriate footwear for hiking. Carry drinking water and any snacks you might want. Trekking poles are recommended for those that like to use them. Ticks and poison oak may be present along trails. Dogs other than service animals are not permitted on this hike.
*Muir Woods National Monument will be open on this date.
